Zenith People are working with our client who are a Manufacturer based in Sunderland and are looking to recruit a Commercial Sales Engineer on a permanent basis.  Reporting into the Operations Director, this is an exciting opportunity to continue to drive an already successful business forward and become involved with Sales, Quality and Project Management.

You must have the ability to attract new opportunities whilst supporting business growth strategy whilst working to improve quality, productivity and efficiency of the overall business.

Desired Experience Required & Duties

  • Proven ability to attract sales, assist in the delivery of projects as and when required, manage programs.
  • Assist in all aspects of the project and program engagement from Planning, Production and Supply chain whilst identifying any potential risks to the business.
  • EHS&Q plan, cash flow analysis, overall delivery programme and lifetime support programme for bids and quotations in response to customer queries and quotes.
  • Manage Customer expectations including requesting support from the appropriate teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Actively involved in the bidding process
  • Establishing a full understanding of associated costs and potential risks in manufacture
  • Ensure all documentation is in line with all quality expectations.
  • Prepare estimates.
  • Ability to develop sales contacts within all business sectors.
  • Ensure that project and program are delivered on time and under budget.
  • Ability to draft, submit or assist comprehensive project plans, program bids and submitted quotations.
  • Customer/client communication on a daily basis whilst managing customer expectations


  • Able to read and interpret technical information and drawings including CAD design understanding. and use various measuring equipment.
  • 3 year+ commercial engineer experience, including project management.
  • 3 year+ experience working in Engineering/Manufacturing
  • Preferred Engineering Qualification
  • Proficient on IT systems such as MS project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Commercial contract experience preferable.
  • Risk and conflict management experience, including negotiating skills
