Role overview:

Responsible for delivering English/Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications at levels 1 and 2 remotely and/or at various employer sites to learners on apprenticeship programmes.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality and inclusive teaching and learning sessions both face to face and remote
  • Prepare relevant course/subject materials including resources, lesson plans and SOL that effectively meet awarding body requirements
  • Complete and use initial assessment results to ensure learning needs are met
  • Use a variety of delivery methods that will stimulate learning appropriate to learner needs
  • Deliver additional sessions and one to one support where required to ensure all learners can succeed
  • Track and record learner progress ensuring that accurate and reliable information on predicted achievement and success rates are readily available, complete attendance registers and reviews in line with internal processes
  • Support the achievement of contractual targets for learner retention and success rates
  • Provide accurate, constructive, and timely formative assessment and feedback to learners
  • Support the IQA process
  • Support apprenticeship assessors to enable them to embed functional skills to meet each of their learners needs
  • Provide impartial advice and guidance to all learners to support progression
  • Maintain knowledge of new developments in the curriculum, courses, and teaching practices
  • To keep abreast of developments within own areas of expertise and to keep course material up to date to reflect the requirements of the business and the examining/validating bodies
  • Act on feedback from teaching observations, employers, peers or other review processes
  • Actively participate in, and promote, the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Promote and monitor equality and diversity in all aspects of the role and record issues that may arise

Shared Responsibilities:

  • Delivering against internal standards, systems and procedures and involvement in internal audit programme
  • Contribute to external audits from awarding organisations and funders
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all programmes including apprenticeships, our commercial offer and recruitment services
  • Increasing Zenith Training profile
  • Contribute to team meetings
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all learners and parties contacting the business
  • Answering telephone/taking messages

Essential Criteria:

  • Full Teaching Qualification – PGCE, PCET, DTLLS
  • Hold a subject specialism in English/mathematics, e.g. Level 5, subject specific degree, or equivalent
  • Experience of working in the post-16 sector, especially within Apprenticeship, Skills and Adult Education
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching and learning strategies
  • Excellent organisational, IT and administrative skills
  • Confident and professional with motivational and influencing skills
  • Quality focussed and target driven
  • Full, clean driving licence and use of a vehicle, must be flexible with travel

Desirable Criteria:

  • Level 3 or above Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Recognised Assessor award: D32/D33, A1, TAQA or CAVA
  • Experience of dealing with awarding body audits
  • Experience of using e-portfolios
